WHAT IS FOOT REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a treatment that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, face and ears. According to traditional Chinese medicine, these points correspond to different areas of the body which when stimulated or when areas on the foot are worked on to 'unblock them', then realign that area of the body to promote self-healing.
A foot massage is different from reflexology. Foot massages involve applying pressure on and around the feet to provide relief from soreness and discomfort. Reflexology focuses on different reflexes in the foot to stimulates the energy channels throughout the body which connect the feet to internal organs, glands, bones, and body systems.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A REFLEXOLOGY APPOINTMENT?
Before you visit you will be sent a short online medical history form to complete. When you arrive, you will be seated in a special reflexology chair and after removing your shoes and socks you will receive a wonderful hot-towel foot cleanse. I will then recline the chair and offer you a selection of Neil's yard essential oils to place on your wrists and by your neck and will commence the treatment. The treatment used organic oil or a organic balm and I will begin the reflexology session which consists of a variety of techniques applied to reflex points over your feet and ankles.
During a foot reflexology treatment clients you may find some areas are tender and then the applied pressure is reduced. Individual reactions to reflexology vary greatly but the great majority of clients thoroughly enjoy their experience and find that it helps them to reduce stress, tension and anxiety. Many clients fall asleep. To close the session together we take three deep breaths.
In order to achieve the most from your reflexology treatment it is advisable to relax and drink plenty of water after your treatment to remove any toxins.
